TROY TATE
SESSIONS

-
The Smiths originally recorded their first album with Troy Tate as producer, on a
tiny budget. They were understandably unhappy with the results, and tracks
were re-recorded with John Porter; these tracks subsequently became
The Smiths.
The album was originally intended to have the above track listing, and
was entitled "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle". From the same sessions,
Troy Tate recorded versions of The Hand That Rocks The Cradle and
Accept Yourself
and the only recorded version of Jeane.
Whether the awful production is due to the severe lack of money or due to the amateurish attempts
of Troy I really couldn't say.
